Soil and Water Management in Agriculture Production and Processing, and Conservation of Coastal Resources of Costa do Sol Area, Maputo Municipality
A project that aims to promote soil, water, and wildlife resources conservation in Costa do Sol area within the north-east parts of Maputo Municipality. The project will involve groups of small farmers in conservation of coastal vegetation, control of soil erosion, conservation of water streams, and protection of birdlife. It will promote farming for subsistence and livelihood support, and income generation activities for community groups to reduce pressure over natural resources. Part of the project benefits of noticeable impacts will be at the level of awareness raising at community level on the need to protect the environment, conservation of coastal-marine resources, establishment of a communal tree nursery, development of a community centre, and establishment of a vegetable processing and packing plant. Ultimately traditional and local administrative authorities will be involved throughout the project execution process.
