Dissemination of Poverty, and Environment Concepts to District Community Facilitators Through a Capacity Building Program
Dissemination of Poverty, and Environment Concepts to District Community Facilitators Through a Capacity Building Program
The project is to be undertaken in Zambézia Province by RADEZA, which is the only association working at district level in the province. RADEZA is involved with civil society organizations in the network of environmental and sustainable community development initiatives. This is a continuity of the movement established within the Rio+10 Summit (World Summit on Sustainable Development) held in 2002 in Johannesburg ? South Africa.

The aim of the project is the dissemination of concepts about poverty and environment to community district development facilitators through a capacity building program under the new approach of sustainable development, and intervention strategies about PARPA, and the MDGs. The project is divided in two phases, covering: dissemination and training; and development of activities and concrete actions as a base to promote interaction between environment protection and poverty eradication.

The project will improve the quality, and level of management of natural resources by communities, raise their awareness on the need to protect the environment, and improve their livelihood support activities. It will also contribute to the implementation of activities defined in the strategic plan for the environment for the period 2005 ? 2015. The development of a network of community organizations that work on poverty and environment issues at district level having formal links with the provincial environment services it is also an expected final result of this project.
