BIODIVERSITY, SENSIBLE ECONOMICS, AND GOOD GOVERNANCE: THE PINABACDAO INITIATIVE TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
The persistence of traditional methods of farming has caused significant environmental degradation in almost 80% of the land; these are compounded with the utilization of inorganic fertilizer which pollution of the resources, most significantly the marine resources.
The Upland Agro-Forestry will be the main activity of this project as this will retard or arrest the continuous and uncontrolled land degradation leading to destruction of biological diversity therefore promote environmental conservation and restoration for sustainable agricultural development.

Policy Influence
The first of its kind nationwide, this joint LGU-PO project will raise agricultural productivity and open income opportunities for low and non-earning farmlands, under a joint venture arrangement with the target beneficiaries. Project conceptualization was conducted thru Participatory Situational Analysis.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
The project aimed to:
? develop a holistic approach in developmental framework in three dimensions ? environment, economics and social well-being;
? increase farm productivity with soil conservation techniques
? increase family income
? provide gender equality in access to opportunities
? increase LGU income
? promote awareness on environmental conservation and restoration
