Enhancing Participation of Indigenous People in Natural Resources Management and Biodiversity Conservation in Puerto Princesa and Quezon, Palawan
The project aims to undertake a documentation of conservation practices and ethno-botanical IK of three IP groups (Batak, Palawan and Tagbanua) to address the crucial issue of biodiversity conservation.
The project will consist of two phases: Phase I will be the collection, documentation and analysis of indigenous knowledge, conservation practices, ethno-medicinal and health practices, and ethno-botanical resources in the three IP communities of the project. Phase II will involve sharing Phase I data, setting-up of learning-demonstration sites on ethno-knowledge and botanical conservation practices through ethno-botanical nurseries where wider demonstration and application of such knowledge and practices will give the greatest value to the IPs. A participatory framework will be utilized in the participation of the IP members, particularly in the video documentation.
