Organic agriculture of potato, maize, faba beans and avocado trees and reforestation of pine, alder and cypress trees in the Cantón La Joya community, Comitancillo, San Marcos, Guatemala
The project will benefit 40 families in the Cantón La Joya Community. The beneficiaries are diverse and represent well the community, half of the project beneficiaries are women and there is active participation of both younger and older members of the community.
The project will sow 1.7 ha of potato, 1.7 ha of maize and 1.7 ha of faba beans using organic agriculture and soil conservation methods. 1 ha of avocado trees will be planted. 6,000 pine, alder and cypress trees will be reforested on 1.7 ha of land. Training workshops will be given in organic agriculture, soil conservation, reforestation and administration.
