Gender Focus
Although both women and men participate in household activities it is common knowledge that women have the additional burden of looking after domestic chores including fire wood collection. Therefore women will be given particular attention to ensure that they benefit equally from the projects as men. Women will be encouraged to identify projects that are more beneficial to them and their households and those where they have a management comparative advantage such as establishment of improved cookstoves.
Notable Community Participation
The project will focus on five communities selected from the sub-counties of Busulani, Bumasifwa, Buhugu, Bulago and Butandiga. The roles of direct beneficiaries in the project include:  Contribution of ideas in project planning and policy formulation  Actual participation in implementing project activities  Participation in monitoring and evaluating the project activities  Participating in project meetings  Creation of awareness about the project among community members. Beneficiary households will directly implement the project while the PMC and Project Staff will provide guidance to enable households achieve the set objectives.
