Capacity Building for Conservation of Important Plant Areas in Baskonus (Kahramanmaras) and Posof (Ardahan) and their Rare Plant Species
The project aims to build local capacity in and around Kahramanmaras and Ardahan IPAs, which are identified recently through the support of the Environmental Investment Programme of the Baku-Tiblisi-Ceyhan Pipeline Co. The project itself is part of a larger initiative, again partially funded by the BTC, aiming to demonstrate the importance of several rare plants in the area and aiming to cultivate a selected variety of plants among these for marketing. The overall project includes pilot gardens and trainings. SGP support to the project is aimed at the public awareness and dissemination of good practices generated by the project.

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
The project aims to create the basis for sustainable livelihood in the area, first by raising the overall awareness of the local people, and also by demonstrating the cultivation of marketable bulbous plants in the area.
Capacity - Building Component
The project mainly aims at the capacity building of the local people, including the local administration and related provincial directorates of the line ministries involved in.
