Student Act for Clean Environment in Jenin Governorate
Project on supporting schools? students? role in conserving biodiversity in Jenin governorate. The project will contribute to advocate environmental awareness at the schools? students. The projects will also contribute to building capacity of schools teachers as well as students to identify environmental problems in their local communities and to learn how to interfere positively in order to enhance their local environment. The project comprises implementation of 40 pilot projects at 40 selected schools in Jenin Governorates. Projects design and preparation of work-plan is expected to be produced by students? projects groups. Furthermore documentary film expected to be produced by students? projects groups. Furthermore documentary film highlighting lessons learned and first eight ranked projects will be produced and disseminated.
By large the project will contribute to build positive attitude for schools? students and enhance their skills to plan for a better and healthy environment in Jenin Governorate.

Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
Conduct two training workshops for 40 teachers for duration of 56 training hours to provide them with necessary educations and tools related to biodiversity conservation. Atotal of 40 teachers will be selected from a 40 schools in Jenin Governorate. The training will include two parts: the first part will merely provide a theoretical background on, environmental law, biodiversity and natural resources conservation. While the second part will focus on application as the teachers will be trained to identify environmental problems in their areas, propose interventions and produce work plans for pilot project implementations at their schools. Conducting training workshop for 1200 school students for a period of one week. It is expected that every trained teacher will formulate student groups at their respective schools for project implementations. Each group comprises 30 students. The teachers together with their respective students group will work to identify environmental problems related to biodiversity and propose interventions. The project coordinator will assist the groups in projects design and preparing work-plans. A total of 40 pilot projects will be designed and used as application of learning by doing for students groups.
Notable Community Participation
Local communities: Local communities learning from students work learning and applying this knowledge as in the village of Maithalon where farmers planted and produced a crop of watermelon in a land that has not seen watermelon for a while due to diseased soil after it was known for its watermelon in Palestine. Also, the donation of land for development of Yabad school project. - Municipalities and organizations donating use of land for development of land, services, materials for certain projects continuation or development. - Parents? participation supporting their children but also learning the importance of plant diversity preservation
