Raising awareness to reduce CO2 and promoting utilization of solar energy in water heating in Askar refugee Camp in Nablus Governorate.
A project on maximizing community participation in implementing mitigation measures to reduce Green Houses Emissions (GHE) resulted from burning of solid waste used in domestic water heating in Askar Refugee camp at Nablus Governorate. The project will promote community awareness particularly women and children on adverse impacts of burning solid waste used in domestic water heating and the threats of climate change due to increasing GHFs. The project will also increase community awareness on utilizing solar energy for water heating through training new graduated women from Askar Refugee Camp as a community guide to lead ?home to home? campaign in 50 families. Moreover, the project will conduct series of workshops to educate the community on threats of climate change and air pollution. In addition to its contribution to reducing the CO2 emissions, the project will contribute to improving the public health of poor families living at Askar refugee Camps.

Notable Community Participation
Organizing community support committee to monitor the project implementation, provide a backup for project team and strengthen the relation between the community and the project. Such committee would include representatives from UNRWA, Nablus Municipality, Public services committees, and Environmental Quality authority.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Raising awareness through the following: *Launching 20 community awareness campaigns in the project area aiming at educating the community on the adverse impacts on burning solid waste for water heating and its effects on public health as well as local and global environment. The awareness campaigns will also explain the threat of climate changes and how to implement mitigation measures in particular utilizations of solar energy for domestic water heating. *Design and distribute a 400 copy of awareness stickers. * Disseminate information through local TV and Radio * Conducting training workshop for new graduated women and community leaders from the project area. *Designing and publishing a 300 copy of project booklet that document lessons learned.
