A project that aims to promote and establish participatory schemes of management of natural resources by women through creation of medicinal plants tree nurseries, training on its handling and processing. For poverty relief and promotion of sustainable livelihoods, the project will introduce income generation activities at household level through women lead cooperatives that will establish poultry farms, sell medicinal plants, and carry out other domestic activities. Awareness campaigns on the need to protect the environment, and rising of environment consciousness will also be part of the project activities. The major benefits will be on protection of biodiversity of this afromontane ecosystem, mitigate land degradation due to run off and build capacity at community level to manage community organizations and local resources.
