Ongendo Biogas project
The project is based on installing a biogas approach, which will use animal waste products for cooking. The main aim of this approach is to identify opportunities that will add value to these waste items, and simultaneously ensure that the process will introduce divese use of wood products for cooking, heat, light etc.
The project will be located in Otjinene, Epukiro, Tallismanus, and Stein Hausen.
Project Goal: The overall vision of the skills training program is to impart relevant skills to the rural beneficiaries in Omaheke region and to install and maintain biogas digesters.
Objectives:
1.Raise awareness of bio digester process in surrounding communities through pilot studies.
2.Develop the sustainability of bio-gas digester after installation.

Project sustainability
The project seeks to empower rural communities in communal areas to convert animal waste to energy. Omaheke is livestock country, and using local animal waste would improve local deforestation. Diversifying the use of local resources would also improve economic activities related to non-timber products and raise awareness of local environmental issues.
Future endeavors include meetings with community to increase awareness and select one pilot household per village. In addition, task group will network with different stakeholders in the Omaheke region. Lastly, the task group will visit various existing bio-gas digesters in other constituencies.
