Rain Water Harvesting Programme by Sarana Padanama
This project is situated in Hambantota, located in the southern part of Sri Lanka. Due to its hot and dry climate, receiving enough rain for local gardens is an issue. Therefore Sarana Padanama intends to focus on the construction of rain water harvesting systems, such as the construction of harvesting tanks. Over 14 tanks will have been constructed so far and it is approximately Rs. 25,000/= per tank. Related to this, the project will also encourage the community to get involved in home organic farming using bio composting.
