Lake Jipe Conservation Project
Lake Jipe Conservation Project
This Lake which is a shared ecosystem between Tanzania and Kenya, may disappear in the next few years, if concerted efforts by both countries are not raised. Conservation efforts have already began in the Kenyan side to salvage the lake. The main objective is to address and reserve the trend of degradation of Lake Jipe through integrated community based initiatives by training and sensitizing 7 villages around Lake Jipe to formulate Village Land Use Plans (VLUP). The VLUP will provide basis for the mapping of major land use and measures to control land degradation.
