Sustainable Land Management and Reduction of Land Degradation in Landslide Areas by Foundation for Rural Community Development
This project by the Foundation for Rural Community Development (FRCD) will focus on promoting sustainable land management among the community in order to reduce land degradation in Watapatha, a landslide-affected area. FRCD will construct concrete drains according to contour lines in order to prevent soil erosion.

Additionally, in order to improve the livelihoods of those affected, FRCD will start site nurseries, giving bata, vetiva and puwak to selected community members.

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Landslides were affecting the community?s livelihoods. Therefore, FRCD introduce activities such as bee-keeping, mushroom cultivation and tea land development in order to create a sustainable livelihood for those affected.
Gender Focus
Most of the affected women were taught on how they can be self-employed and contribute to the family income. Therefore these women could support the community?s actions to reduce landslides.
