Atmospheric Purification in Damascus Through Utilization Of Catalyzers
The project aims at raising awareness on gas emissions from vehicles and their long-term as well as short term effects, including climate change. To reach this end, catalyzers will be installed on the exhaust pipes of automobiles, and emitted gases will be measured before and after the installation in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the catalyzers.

Policy Influence
as a result of the media campaign held through this project:
- meeting held by ministers of environment and transport for discussing methods of addressing air pollution problem in Damascus including usage of catalytic converter and improvement of fuel quality by adopting green diesel and gas-operated vehicles
-ministry of environment formed a committee to study feasibility of catalytic converter usage
-ministry of transport formed a committee to study feasibility of catalytic converter usage
-homs governor showed interest in the campaign since Homs also suffers from air pollution. the governor formed a committee for this purpose.
Policy Impact
the project is advocating for laws to restrict vehicle-caused air pollution through:
1. Building partnerships with the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment
?Making use of devices to measure air pollution to gather information on pollution in Damascus before and after experiments
?Forming a joint action committee with the two ministries to coordinate project activities and deliver its outputs and results to decision-makers
2. Making use of the media to lobby decision-makers for application of laws
?Undertaking a media (advertising) campaign
?Organizing popular walks to educate Damascus residents on the negative effects of pollution
