Developing Susteinable Use of Cerrado Fruits
Developing Susteinable Use of Cerrado Fruits
The municipality of Japonvar is located in the semi-arid region of Brazil, has low Human Development Índices and there are no options available to the population for employment and income. The obvious choice is thus clearing native Cerrado vegetation for production of charcoal.
This project seeks to provide an alternative for generation of employment and income for small wild collectors in the municipality of Japonvar and its surroundings, by means of expanded production and marketing of products from the biodiversity of the Cerrado, particularly pequi, araticum, cagaita and umbu.
