White-lipped peccaries will be studied and evaluated in order to determine whether current hunting practices are sustainable. Information regarding abundance of other related species in the Pimentel Barbosa Indigenous Land will be collected for conservation of Cerrado and Xavante indigenous culture. Specific objectives are bringing together traditional Xavante knowledge and scientific techniques for peccary management to converge in sustainable hunting for the Xavantes who depend on wildlife for sustenance, as well as spiritual and cultural heritage.
