The organization will mobilize the village elders to come forward and share the positive results of Orans, which they have experienced in their lifetime. Small case studies shall be built up-front, by capitalizing on the memory bank of the village elders, the organization hopes to translate the age-old Oran unwritten constitution into a written form, thereby giving it the power of a written record. The various forums are proposed for the activities which will ensure ownership and sustainability.

The project will involve and partner with the government to recognize the importance of Orans by jointly circulating quarterly newsletters, publications about the same and also inviting government officials to their training programmes / workshops.

The proposal focuses on basically capacity-building of the community to protect the ORANS and networking with the NGOs to advocate for Orans recognition. It is envisaged that they will create a state network to facilitate the process and link the efforts being made in isolation to have a good impact. The project will establish an ?effective forum? consisting of different stakeholders (PRIs, VFPMCs, Mahila Mandals/ SHGs, KRAPAVIS), environmental scientists, foresters, interesting NGOs and concerning government officials, representative from Biodiversity State Boards, JFM, funding agencies, agricultural/ horticulture and other concerned people for discussing in depth matters at the state level, for safeguarding the long- term interest of communities in Oran survival, growth and development. Also, linkages and connections are being made with relevant officers in the Government departments including networking with other institutes working on pastoralists, flora, fauna, and ethno-botanical and ethno-veterinary aspects in Rajasthan and outside.
