Community Initiative for Tapir (Tapirus indicus) Conservation: "Strengthening community -based Tapir conservation and economy development effort to increase alternative energy, in Taratak forest, West Sumatera "
Goals:
Strengthening community-based forestry management including the animal or plants within the forest preservation, with a comprehensive conservation management as well as increased the indigenous law with betterment policy management and development of local economy initiatives.
Project objectives:
[1] to collect basic datas on Taratak forest through mapping and analysis of natural resource from many aspects (biodiversity, social, culture, geo-politic and econommy):
[2] to acknowledge the sites as the important Tapir and tiger conservation and preservation that should not be violated,
[3] to develop environment friendly economy with Sollar Tunnel Dryer technology to increase quality, vallue-added and agriculture product price and develop environment service-based income-alternative model.

[2] alternative (environment friendly) local economy development, such as Solar Tunnel Dryer,
[3] knowledge management,
[4] monitoring and evaluation
Expected Output:
[1] Baseline-data about Taratak organized in Information Management System,
[2] Site-map, including a Tapir conservation and preservation site,
[3] to acknowledge the indigenous conservation site (with Tapir as main species) which could be adjusted with Nagari Indigenous Law (Hukum Adat Nagari),
[4] Sollar Tunnel Dryer facility for improving quality of agriculture commodities,
[5] Environment service development model, eco-tourism initiative (research-based tourism),
[6] Materials for awareness and advocacy-policy, including policy-paper which included indigenous conservation management model recommendation.
