Micro-hydro Project in Tukulon Villages
Project development Goal:
To encourage sustainable natural resources management in Tukulon villages
Project Objectives:
1. To provide electricity for villagers by using micro-hydro power
2. To reduce non-renewable energy based consumption (such as wood and gasoline).
3. To increase social and economic welfare
4. To initiate local resources based productive economic entrepreneur activities supported by electricity supply
5. To empower electricity management institution and other related institution would be to develop self sufficiency environment within the community to encourage water and forest conservation.
6. To develop documentation system to be used as effective media on lessons learned and replication purposes for other sites.
Expected output:
1. Seventy three families are provided electricity service from 1 unit of micro-hydro
2. Electricity supply will be the substitute of gasoline and wood for energy consumption
3. Two units of local resources based productive entrepreneur activities to increase community?s income
4. Good management on electricity distribution integrated with productive entrepreneur activities and water and forest management
5. Participatory monitoring and evaluation in managing electricity, economy, water and forest
6. Information dissemination system to get policy support and market network access for community?s products.
Activities to be conducted:
Preparation
It consists of:
(a) Coordination; (b) Consultation; (c) Village meetings
Micro-hydro Development
It consists of: (a) Pre construction; (b) Construction; (c) Post construction
Productive entrepreneur development
The activities will identify priority activities, business plan development, facilitating investment and technical assistance for entrepreneur management.
Institution development and capacity building
This program includes: (a) to develop electricity management institution; (b) to develop community based economic institution; (c) to develop community based water and forest management institution; (d) to develop working mechanism among electricity, water and forest and economic institutions
