The project is successful in demonstrating a number of check dams can prevent the flood hazard, land degradation and soil loss. The project was also successful in diverting the Hardiya river in Bantol Judibela-9 to the previous route. The Haridya river with its expansion has converted 50 bighas of land into river bank and also posed serious threat to Sree Judibela Secondary School and 25 housees. While diverting the river course to the previous path, the project supported to construct 40 m long brush wood check dam with two spur (23m and 17m). During the first monsoon of dam construction, since there were no heavy monsoon, the dam could easily withstand the river. But the river has deposited a lot of sand and silt in the checkdam. With this initial success, the community were encoraged and planned to divert the river to the previous route. With their own cash collection of nearly USD950, they brougt excavator to dig out 250 m of soil and diverted the Hardiya river to the orignial path. To complent the community effort District Soil Conservation Office also provided support to construct 50 m gabion check dams (10 gabion net of 3'*1'*1'; 50 gabion net of 2'*1'*1' and skill labour. This endevour has also helped to reclaim 22 hactares of land.

Earlier the project supported to constructed a stone check dam (3*1.5*0.75m) with 53 gabionwire net in the Hardia river. Community contribution were confined only to remedial activities such as check dam construction whereas extraction of boulder and sand were unchecked from the river posing threat to the check dams. In the subsequent year, further 20 gabion nets and 124 bamboo stumps were added to reinforce the check dam and community had prevented the extraction activities near by the dam. Likewise in the Gaire river, Paurahi-9 a gabion check dam of 10 gabion net has been constructed which benefitted 500 households and also provided irrigation opportunity for 500 bighas of land.

The construction of 8 bamboo check dams in the Sano Hardiya river has minimized water runoff and forest soil loss whereas the construction of stone dams and irrigation channel has eased the water supply for the farmers.

The project also supported to construct/ maintain 265m of irrigation cannel in two places which has increased crop production by 5%. Likewise, the project also supported to construct a fish pond at the foothills of Churiya range, which is also expected to support in ground water recharge. From the pond the community members have earned USD660 from sell of 400Kg of fish in first batch of fish.

130 ICS have been installed in the community. The installation of ICS has reduced the firewood consumption and carbon dioxide emission in the environment.

2 participants of bamboo stool making trainings have been earning NRs 1,500-1,800 per month making stool in their leisure time. They have been able to support their family by their own earnings.
