Consolidation of food security among small holder farmers through rehabilitationof Faru furrow at Kilema Kusini Ward.
The Faru Irrigation canal was rehabilitated in the year 2003 but it still have few problems . Faru canal has been affected by siltation and over flows from Masaera irrigational canal . Water from Masaera Canal from time to time cause damage to Faru irrigational canal. Farmers of the Faru canal have been working on this problem but their efforts will only be temporary. This proposal intents to solve this problem parmanently.
After the rehabilitation of the Faru canal in the year 2003, farmers were able to obtain a lot of crops but the farmers were not organized to access good market for their products and also the farmers had lack of marketing skills for their crops.
This project is expected to bring permanent solution to likages adn sedmentation problems in the furrow as well as to improve marketing skills of the farmers.
