Conservation of Whona River Catchments and Cultural Tourism in Marangu Kilimanjaro
This project aims at conservation of Whona river througth cultural tourism and tree planting activities. Whona river has a waterfall which has a traditiona history. This water fall will be the attraction to tourist while the group member will plant trees to protect this area.
The project involves young men who have the background in tourism activities. Most of members of this group were working as mountain guides or potters in Mt. Kilimanjaro National park.The project also intends to lebal all the trees found in this area with their traditional uses.

Capacity - Building Component
1. Planning of eco tourism activities will build the financial capacites of beneficiaries.The project will have seminar with leaders of the 6 villages closer to the water fall for capacity building on environmental issues.
Gender Focus
1. Restoration of the river as a water source will contribute towards reduction in women workload in fetching water.
