The Water Catchment Area preservation with Agroforestry concept and Preparation for Community Based Development and Microhydro Power Marketing Daya Mikrohidro, in Kecamatan Sibolangit and Kecamatan Namorambe, North Sumatera
Ecological Threat:
The result on disturbance in water resource, water supply and so on, due to illegal logging, logging in riverside, humus stealing, reckless disposal of polluted materials (liquid or compact), inapropriate farming along the riverside and near the water resource within the farm area, should interfered with water volume, debit, river colour which affected on fish ecosystem, water company / PDAM Tirtanadi supply, rice irrigation supply. The water supply in 12 village for the microhydro in Sub-district Sibolangit is in critical condition especially during this energy crisis and hiked of electricity retribution.
Goals:
to build water resource conservation movement for the riverbranchs as the microhydro resource in 5 village.
OBJECTIVES: [a] the community have develop land rehabilitation preserve with participatory approah to protect the water resource and supply, [b] to create management and increase of water debit as well as sustainable water resource in the village, [c] to design river ecosystem that could be harmony with natural resource and human, [d] to build the cooperation between external multistakeholders and internal, to rehabilitate the water energy resource, [e] to prepare the microhydro management team in managing and increasing the energy marketing for the State Power Plant.
Activities:
1] socialization preparation, water catchtment area research/local plants, FGD on existing land and participatory action plan, [2] consolidation and community awareness for the electricity energy beneficiaries, site mapping and site planning, [3] water resource and watershed preservation movement (training on composting, seedlings and planting, [4] increasing capacity and building network (comparison study, management training etc), [5] village site planning seminar to preserve watershed (multistakeholders)
Expected Output:
[1] with a participatory approach, the community will attempted on rehabilitating and preserve their local forest which function as a riverbank and watershed,
[2] Following the watershed and water resource preservation the community will gainsustainable benefit from the microhydro as well as the irrigation,
[3] To support the development of village conservation institution sustain the quality, quantity and continuity of the village water resource and monitoring and campaign institution to address the water resource problems,
[4] the availability of materials to reconstruct and increase the microhydro capacity,
[5] to increase organization preparedness in managing microhydro organization in selling the energy to the state grid or third party
Beneficiaries:
149 KK Desa Bukum, the customer paid about US$ 1 - US$2 per households per month. (For the capacity of 88 kw). Indirect beneficiaries 700 households, in 3 villages along the watershed
