Creation a new tourist’s product - product directing to development of steady tourism and descending from it get to knowing and preservation of biodiversity “In the natural garden of the Natural park “Rila monastery”
The preservation of the unique flora of Natural park ?Rila monastery? is of great importance as it hosts species that are not only of national but of global significance. Among the ones of top priority for Natural park ?Rila monastery?. Directorate are Lilium jankae and Rheum rhaponticum. The project will contribute to their preservation by the means of ecotourism development.
The project goal is to enhance biodiversity protection and sustainable local development through ecotourism in the area of municipality Rila.
The project objectives:
- Contribute to the long-term preservation of two globally significant species within natural park ?Rila monastery?;
- Develop a sustainable ecotourism product;
- Raise the capacity of local community to develop and implement similar projects in the future.
Project target groups:
The local community of municipality Rila.;
Natural park ?Rila monastery staff;
Students and young people from the whole area of Natural park ?Rila monastery;
The visitors of municipality Rila and Natural park.
Project activities:
Introducting of local people to the vegetable diversity, with the protected and rare plants ? peoples ? interpretatories,;
Development of two interpretative trails with focus on the two globally significant species;
Studing of two population of rheum rhaponticum and lilium jankae;
Publication of two brochures for interpretative trails;
Publication of one book for plants and natura of natural park ?RIla monastery?
Publication and dissemination of promotional and educational materials.
Project sustainability is guaranteed by growing demand ? nationally and internationally ? for ecotourism products; and creation of biodiversity attitudes in local communities and young people; the improved capacity of all partners to implement such initiatives and projects in the future.
