Indonesian People?s Planning Workshop: Building Up People?s Power for Ecological Disaster Risk Reduction
Ecological Threat:
Climate change is a reality nowadays. Impact of the change is real now in our life and livelihood. IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) on its ?Climate Change Impact, Adaptation and Vulnerability? showed many threats that become larger disasters for the future. Many scientists agreed that disaster is more terrible than terrorism. Water and food crises, health, storm, draught, flood and landslide are those are now have been facing us. Indonesia cannot escape from this kind of situation. Many scientists predicted that the increasing of sea level will cause 400 villages in coastal areas in Indonesia lost in 2015. Climate change will also decrease fulfillment of food because temperature and rainfall automatically change. The increase of rainfall caused a larger distribution of malaria mosquitoes, raising more dengue (tropical fever), cholera and diarrhea.
Goal:
WALHI as a civil society organization seen that all of the problems above need to be response seriously. Threat to the continuity of life is important to be transformed to the real survival agenda and actions. Collective action of all level of stakeholders, especially communities, is key determination to their life as stated in our constitution: ?to protect the nation and the people?, and disaster is part of it.
Aims/objectives:
1. To gather collective knowledge of civil society in disaster risk reduction and ecological disaster.
2. To consolidate people?s power as a pressure to ensure any efforts to reduce risks and impacts of disaster.
3. To formulate progressive resolutions as a response over the uncertainty of proper livelihood of Indonesian citizens.

a. Seminar: Synergizing Social Movement, Policies, and Action Plan on Reduction of Disaster Risk into People?s Livelihood and Nation Stated Systems, b. Workshop: a) Reduction of Disaster Risk and b) Disaster Management, c. Thematic Dialog: Climate Change, Disaster Risk, and Adaptation , d. Declaration Formulating Workshop: Civil Society Declaration on disaster risk reduction?, e. High level policy dialogs and Public hearing, f. Public and Media Campaigns: a) press briefing, b) exhibition and c) thematic dialog and Cultural Event, g. Civil society declaration on ecological disaster risk reduction
3. Post IPC and Project Continuation :
a. Management and dissemination of data and information, b. High level policy dialogs in regional level, c. Public hearing in regional level
d. Campaign and public organizing in national and regional levels, e. Policy monitoring
Expected Output:
1. The collective knowledge on reducing the risks and impacts of ecological disaster is collected.
2. The people?s power as a pressure group to ensure any efforts to reduce the risks and impacts of disaster is consolidated.
3. Progressive resolutions as a response over the uncertainty of proper livelihood of the citizens are formulated.
4. Collective agenda for survival guidance is formulated
