FSM: Designation of the Tafunsak MPA and Establishment of Income Generating Activity to Support the MPA Community
The project will establish a MPA in Tafunsak, Kosrae State, FSM. Kosrae is different than the other states in the FSM. It is a single island-state surrounded by a narrow reef. The impact from over-fishing and over-harvesting on this narrow reef and its resources has become the most urgent and significant threat to Kosrae's marine habitat.

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
-"The Nature Road Show" a travelling educational program focuses on environmental issues, raising awareness of the students in a fun, interactive way in Tafunsak and Walung Elementary schools.
-Radio and TV programs developed and aired in 2008-2009.
-Rapid Ecological Assessment (REA) results was shared through radio programs over the years.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Coral and Giant clam farming were identified as the most environmentally and economically sound income generating in the MPA communities.
