Project Characteristics and Results
Project sustainability
Co finance from Forest Federation and MP state Biodiversity Board is already generated. Forest department had developed Shatavar-Guggal plantation based ravine reclamation model in the area. The project will adopt this model with help of department in the project area.
In the project area, about 50% of land is already converted into ravines in last few years. The project proposes to arrest this ravine ingress and protect agricultural land of 700 farmers. Active participation of farmers will help in long term sustainability of the project.
Replication of project activities
Ingress of ravine is a problem on the banks of Kuwari River and Chambal river. The population also resides on the bank. So success of the project will help to replicate this endogenous treatment in other villages. Harvesting practices has potential for up-scaling in the area as shatavar and guggal found in many parts of the same region.
