Raising Awareness of Critical Environmental Issues and Building Support for the Pitons Management Area World Heritage Site.
This project will address the dwindling support for the Pitons Management Area World Heritage Site (PMAWHS) in Saint Lucia. The CBO will use traditional and non-traditional methods to inform, educate, and build support for this managed area. During and at the end of the project the results from this process will help to design projects which can address conservation and sustainable development issues.
The two primary objectives are to:
(i) significantly increase the level of awareness of the PMAWHA and to build support for its effective management: and
(ii) begin a process of transforming the inhabitants of this living landscape into stewards of the environment.
This project will build strong partnerships with other stakeholders including the Soufriere Marine Management Association.
