Protection of watershed functions and sustainable use of plant biodiversity in Antigua and Barbuda.
This project will carefully document the endemic and endangered species of Antigua and Barbuda, establish a plant nursery and an arboretum with nature trails for visitors. It will also build the capacity of the grantee, prepare a business plan to determine and ensure sustainability, and focus on policy development for the protection of threatened species.
By the end of the project there should be an increased national appreciation for the preservation of endemic and endangered species of plants; at minimum a draft policy paper on the protection of plant species; and the establishment of an arboretum as a business enterprise.
