Promoting the Adoption of Renewable Energy Sources by establishing demonstrative solar collectors for heating system in the secondary school in Aksay village.

The need for such project arose due to the fact that the condition of the school heating system is in poor condition and there is a need to implement inovative mechanisms in heating school. The NGO has proposed to heat the school with solar panels. 1. Conducting seminars (introducing with method of using solar energy), trainings, and round tables.
2. Establish the heating system.
3. Establish solar collectors for heating in secondary school (demonstration of benefits)
4. Information campaign: 5 articles in the newspaper, information boards.
5. Publishing brochures and booklets.
6. Conduct the effectiveness analysis (calculate economical and environmental benefits)

Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods

If the project will be successful the solar panels will be widely used and change the old heating activities.

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment

Information campaign and training actions of the project are directed to demonstrate for local population the necessity of using modern non-polluting technologies for daily life. It will be emphasized, that these measures provide a low level of emission of the gases creating greenhouse effect and by that soften consequences of climate change.

Inovative Financial Mechanisms

It is intended that the project will help to introduce new financial schemes for group procurement. One could say that innovation is concluded in using the scheme of credit unions for introducing environment friendly technology

Replication of project activities

Project practice of installation of solar collectors stimulated interests from other stakeholders in the region in replicating of project activities

Notable Community Participation

The local population participated in project proposal design. The project implementation will be managed and controlled through elected Committee. The Chairperson of the committee is responsible for internal project monitoring.

Policy Impact

The main political goal of the project is to demonstrate opportunities of joint efforts of communities in mastering new technologies by removing unawareness and fear in complexity and high cost of technology.

Capacity - Building Component

The technical and engineering level of the rural population will rise as a result of introduction of biogas installationssolar panel installations rise as they get new skills and knowledge of new non-polluting technologies. Implementing NGO gets experience in mobilizing community resources for mastering new skills and trades.

Project sustainability

Understanding of benefits of using solar collectors which was obvious espacially in energetic crisis conditions of last year is a good support to local inhabitants.

Project Results

One of the project results is thatheating expenses of the school were decreased up to 30%. During the project implementation 10 set of solar collectors were purchased and installed in 10 class-rooms of local school. Two person had opportunity to be paid a salary during 12 months. More than 500 person have get information materials about usage of a solar collector, more than 200 person were consulted.
