Decreasing the desertification of the steppe ecosystems located on the steppe zone of Northern regions of Batken and Laylak rayons by introducing the solar energy sources instead of wood in the daily livelihood of local households.
In 2003 Kyrgyzstan has ratified Kioto protocol on the climate change but the implementation of this protocol is in delay due to the fact that local population is not aware about the renewable energy resources. The project by Jyluuluk CBO is going to raise the awareness of local population about the effectiveness of the renewable energy resources and help to overcome the problems concerning the ecology. 1. Conducting seminars (increasing awareness of local population and local authorities about using solar energy), round tables.
2. Purchasing and installing the different kind of solar devises:
- solar generator
- Vacuum helio-collectors.
- Solar heating system.
- Solar devices for cooking.
- Equipment for minimal energy supple.
3. Conducting the effectiveness analysis. (calculate economical and environmental benefits, field and house experiments)
4. Organizing agitation work.
5. Information campaign (taking film about using solar energy and translating it on TV)
6. Publishing brochures, and booklets.

Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
A proper use of pumps will require mastering of new knowledge and skills.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Introduction of solar pumps will allow reducing a direct emission of greenhouse gas into atmosphere due to substitution of diesel pumps for solar ones. It will be emphasized, that the actions under the project will result not only in the improvement of water supply in the villages, but also that the solar pumps will reduce methane emission, that will be the direct contribution of the local inhabitants to the mitigation of consequences of climate changes.
