Sustainable Rangeland Management in Mujib Reserve
Sustainable Rangeland Management in Mujib Reserve
The project aims at developing an effective and environmentally sustainable rangeland management model within and around the Mujib Nature Reserve within a framework of institutional partnership between the Faqou? Livestock Cooperative and the Mujib Reserve management.

The project will develop a management plan for the area allowed for grazing in Mujib reserve with a surface area of 25000 dunums. It is hoped that the afore-mentioned area would be rehabilitated and sustained through connecting the grazing level with its grazing capacity, which will be defined in cooperation with the reserve management. Complementary planting of suitable grazing plants within the reserve boundaries, to be agreed on with the reserve management in terms of surface area, plant species and planting patterns. Water resources will be provided to the grazing areas through rehabilitating local springs and artesian wells and providing access by rehabilitating the old agricultural roads network in the area.

A further important aspect of this project is the development of a sustainable effective partnership between the cooperative and the reserve management in the field of rangeland management and local development.
