The Kachibona Trail Development
The Kachibona Trail Development
The Colihaut Village Council is leading the way in implementing a community tourism initiative aimed at environmental conservation of the natural assets while at the same time providing sustainable livelihood for the community persons seriously affected by the decline in banana earnings.

Colihaut is located to the western side of the majestic Morne Diablin National Park which was recently included in the SGP geographycal focal area. Due to lack of access and promotion, Lake kashibona is located in the mountains is one of the least visited natural asset in Dominica.
The project will construct a trail to create access to the Lake and a nearby waterfall in addition to the construction of a shelter. Promotional materials will be created for marketing of the trail to residents and visitors alike. Guides to be trained as part of the initiative will be engaged to take school children and other groups to the lake.
Increased visitation will serve as an outlet for the sale of agricultural produce for nearby farms which are also expected to promote farm visitation.
