Involvement of local population into nature protection and sustainable biodiversity resource usage of bottomland river Pripyat in the wildlife reserve “Middle Pripyat” in Stolin district, Brest oblast.
The aim of project is to involve local population into nature protection and sustainable biodiversity resource usage of bottomland river Pripyat in the wildlife reserve ?Middle Pripyat? in Stolin district by renewal traditional kinds of land use (first of all bushes harvesting as a fuel and material for local handicrafts) as a means to control bushes spreading over the flood-plain meadows and development of ecotourism.
Tasks of the project:
1. To organize removal of the bushes (at flood-plain parts suffering from bushes growth and where rehabilitation measures are needed) by the means of local population bushes harvesting as a fuel and material for local handicrafts;
2. To create conditions for the development of providing eco-tourist services by the local population;
3. To provide support and further development of local handicrafts (willow-tatting in particular);
4. To develop the design and construct necessary infrastructure of eco-path for tourists? visits of nature landscapes, vegi- and bio- sites of flood-plain meadows, demonstration of applied nature protection technologies;
5. To organize informational and educational works among the local population to raise the public awareness and to involve local population into nature protection and sustainable biodiversity resource usage of bottomland river Pripyat in the wildlife reserve ?Middle Pripyat?.
