Integrate action for biodiversity conservation in Northern Padurea Craiului Mountains
Goal of the project: Conservation of the biodiversity in the northern part of Padurea Craiului Mountains
Objectives:
1. To increase citizens' participation level among 1000 citizens from the rural communities in the northern part of The Padurea Craiului Mountains in 2 years time.
2. To increase community capacity to capitalize on the local resources through 300 inhabitants in Damis?Galaseni area, in the northern part of The Padurea Craiului Mountains within 2 years.
3. To improve the community management systems for the natural values and the protected areas from Damis?Galaseni area within 2 years.
Proposed activities:
1.1 Bringing together the stakeholders (organizing the community initiative group, communication and team building courses, strategic planning and citizenship techniques, rural academy).
1.2 Community fora and mini-grants.
2.3 Materialization and distribution of informative and educational materials (local management of the local resources brochure, waste management brochure, Galaseni cave and Damis area presentation brochure)
2.4 Organization of alternative vocational and environmental trainings (environmental education in schools, training of trainers for teachers)
3.5 Training activities about different types of protected areas (karstology, speleology, ecoturism, local guides training)
3.6 Biodiversity study at Galaseni cave.
3.7 Assuring a minimal visiting infrastructure at Galaseni cave.
3.8 Establishing the Damis-Ponoras protected area (delimitation and mapping of the area, scientific studies,feasibility study)
3.9 The arrangement of the visiting centre of Damis protected area.
3.10 Supporting and developing activities for the sustainable capitalization of local resources ( bicycle renting center, resting places, touristic panels, acquisition of forest fruit packaging equipment, obtaining quality certificates for the local products)

participating in the project activities and are
informed on the biodiversity conservation and on the
sustainable management of the local resources.

Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
The awareness raising activities determine an
increased level of education concerning
the importance of biodiversity and of the protected
areas. Through the informative materials
disseminated, the locals living in a protected area
will have a correct perception of the advantages
and obligations deriving from this statute.
