Climate change has become one of the critical problems of the XXI century, and it poses a threat for mankind development. In the course of time, it may become the main reason for poverty explosion in developing countries, and increase of the streams of so called ?environmental? refugees. All this may occur due to the land and drinking water resources shortage, progressing desertification process, flood, sharp winds and environmental crisis, undermined human life.

Unfortunately, only limited groups of people in specialized state departments, experts, students of environmental faculties are somehow aware about the situation, and have access to informational sources on climate change. In Kazakhstan, climate change topics are not widely discussed, and the common opinion exists that the global climate change avails for Kazakshtan.

To help the people to have clear understanding of the situation, awareness raising activity in the climate change issues should be realized. This will promote clear understanding the climate change essence among people and alternatives and measures to adopt to the changing circumstances.

Project aim:
To raise the public awareness in climate change issues.

Project tasks:
During the project implementation it is supposed the documentation and information on climate change to be gathered; climate change influence on development of Kazakhstan in an aspect of human development will be analyzed; perspectives and alternatives of the population ?s participation in the climate change issues will be observed. The second main aspect of the project is to widely distribute the analysis results all over the country through round tables, seminars, presentations, which are going to be carried out in different regions of Kazakhstan.

- Analysis of the climate change aspect and tendencies in Kazakhstan in perspective of human development done
- Recommendation for Kazakhstan adaptation for the climate change prepared
- Series of seminars, round tables to discuss the results of the analysis and recommendations arranged with participation of the President Administration, the Parliament, Government, Business representatives, NGOs, academic institutions all over the country, to raise awareness of the making decisions focal points in the climate change aspects
- Thousand of copies of the analysis and recommendations widely spread out
