Facilitating mass production of local produced dry –toilet system
The overall goal is to contribute to a sustainable water resource management taking into consideration the limited water supply of the country and the growing water demand. Priority is to be able to provide Namibians with a proper, efficient, economic, and ecological sanitation system. Plus, the project seeks to demonstrate that water can be saved drastically through the dissemination of the Otji-Toilet.

It is planned build four metal workshops for prefabrication of Otji-Toilets. The extension will increase production capacity, to address needs in rural areas of northern Namibia, and central and southern Namibia.

Capacity - Building Component
In the rural areas of Namibia, there is limited sanitation facilities. The main objective of the project therefore is to provide available sanitation for the dense, mainly poor residents.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
More than half of the water consumed in Namibia is pumped out of the ground. For that reason, groundwater reserves are either fully stressed or over-exploited. This demand will continue to increase, especially as residents move from rural to urban centres, thus water must be conserved wherever possible. Water management sustainability in Namibia is a local action that indicates upon a global crisis.
