Establishment of Kalahari Melon Seed Processing and Conservation Centre
The overall project goal is to raise conservation awareness campaign amongst Kalahari melon seed subsistence farmers to reduce over-utilization of this indigenous plant and establish a modern centre to ensure proper handling, safer storage of community seeds for sale to the factory and increase household income.

Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
Technical assistance such as trainings, workshops and demonstrations are required to build the capacity of the communities in sustainable harvesting, best seeds collection methods and general management of the KMS center (seed processing, financial management, record keeping, etc.). This skill transfer will be provided by the supporting agencies.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
The King Nehale Conservancy aims to sustainably manage, utilize wildlife and other natural resources to improve its members' livelihoods. This can be achieved through capacity building, mapping out economic derivatives from natural resources, sourcing of market (business development) job creation and income generation while enhancing participative decision making to reduce poverty amongst conservancy members.
