Management of community forestry by indigenous community for livelihood and access to clean water.
This project was fully funded by UNDP TRAC fund through Country SGP.
This Top-up project will provide additional support to two villages of indigenous community to have secure right to access and participate in Community Forest management over 839 ha around their village through establishment of Community Forestry in Tropeang Sre village ( more than 500 ha) and Strengthening Community Forestry in Chrap village to manage 339 ha of forest land. The project also provides capacity building on forest resources management and related laws, Agro-forestry and leadership for indigenous communities and community forestry committee members. The project also focus on empowerment women to participate in community forestry management and livelihood improvement by providing direct support (coaching and training) and piloting agro-forestry in 1 ha of land and organizing saving groups and revolving fund for small business development.
The Top-up prowill will provide 331 Ceramic water Purifiers, two rain water harvesting tanks and 5 pumping wells. With this additional support community members will be able to grow more vegetable around their house, reduced firewood demand for boiling water and have enough water to use during dry season.
