Clean water use and managment to improve biodiversity conservation
This project is aiming at raising awareness on clean water used and it management for 1,789 families who live inside Cardamom protected. The project covered 20 villages, 5 communes, Veal Veng district, Pursat province. With the additional support from UNDP TRAC fund, project being able to conduct commune and district level workshop to raise awareness on the import of ?Water for life and their Livelihood?; provide 6 pumping well for 6 villages, 1,200 Ceramic Water Purifiers and 1.019 water jars for rain water harvesting. Project also produce two project video documentary of two projects. The first project was funded by UNDP GEF SGP - Developing Sustainable Community-Based Livelihood Systems for people in Protected Areas in the Cardamom Mountain (SCLP-VPS) project and second project is Clean water use and management to improve biodiversity conservation project. These two video documentary focuses on good practices and experiences related to the life of communities who live inside protected areas.

This project will provide direct benefit to women through providing CWP to them and water gar as most of women role is collecting and boiling water for the whole family members. By have CWP and pumping well closed to their house, more than 1,000 women can save firewood and their time spend for boiling water and collecting unsafe water from far away springs and river. Project also provides capacity building to on how to use CWP and the advantage of harvesting rain water. For sustainability used of pumping well, project has assist villagers to organize water use committee to maintain and mange those pumping wells.

Project expected that from those interventions women and their family will have good health and have more times to participate with community development work, especially in make used and manage the natural resources in the protected areas.

Project Characteristics and Results
Notable Community Participation
Project have organized commune and district level consultation during project proposal development and project implementation. Around 1,800 families will get direct benefit from Water for life and water for livelihood interventions and 800 villagers and stakeholder (569 women and 231 men) were training on the advantages and the use of Ceramic Water Purifier and sustainable use natural resources around their house and inside their village.
