Project to Improve Community Forestry Livelihoods through Water Sanitation Development.
This project is fully funded by UNDP TRAC fund. The project is aiming at improving health of Community Forestry members and raising awareness of villagers and school students on mechanism of using clean water and contributed to reduce water born diseases. This project covered 22 villages, 5 communes in Otdar Meanchey province. With support from UNDP TRAC fund, project was able to conduct awareness raising meeting with villagers, school student and monks on forest resources conservation, provide 4 pumping wells to 4 villages, credit sell of 774 Ceramic Water Purifier (CWP) to 774 families, provide 126 CWP for public centers including 46 CWP for pagodas, 76 CWP for schools and 4 CWP for remote community based health centers. The project also credit sell of water 220 jars to community forestry members, 1 for commune council office and two for small pagodas use for collecting/harvesting rain water.

This project will provide direct benefit to 1,047 women through credit sell of CWP and water gar as most of women role is collecting and boiling water for the whole family members. By have CWP as well water jars and pumping well closed to their house, more than 1,000 women can save firewood and their time spend for boiling water and collecting unsafe water sources. Project also provides capacity building to on how to use CWP and the advantage of harvesting rain water to 4,786 beneficiaries (1583 women, 1,398 men and 1,805 school children. For sustainability used of pumping well, project has assist villagers to organize water use committee to maintain and mange those pumping wells.

Project expected that from those intervention women and their family will have good health and have more times to participate with community development work, especially participated in forest resources conservation through participate in patrolling of forest land manage by community forestry.

Notable Community Participation
Extensive capacity and institution building will empower the beneficiary communities to better manage the water sanitation on which their livelihood depend and influence the policy and institutional agencies positively for change water . The local authorities and CF committees will become a more progressive and effective vehicle for promotion of community forestry members about water sanitation, and they supported the community forestry activities and CF members will participated protecting, maintain sustainable using in Community Forestry.
Capacity - Building Component
Through this project, CDA will facilitated community forestry committees with commune council that CDA will help them develop systems to manage finances, plan and implement activities, and carry out other functions that will enable them to continue to operate once CDA withdraws. Project will also help the capacity building on water sanitation advantage to CF committees and members, they can use to knowledge that received from CDA done their activities at home day to day although this project finish. And each commune will build up a good hygiene practices in the community. Project will help the community forestry associations build up strong relations with other institutions skill that can help them in the future, including the commune councils, district authorities, FA and others. This will be done through facilitation of meetings at commune, and village meeting. CDA will be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the project.
