This project was fully funded by UNPD TRAC fund thruogh coutry SGP team.
The project is aiming at the protection and conservation of natural resources and to contribute to an increase in the nutrition and food security of communities around 3 natural Lakes through the establishment and protection of 3 community conservation areas. This project has proposed to establish 3 community conservation lakes (13.50 ha), aiming at increasing fish stock and protection of 53 ha of existing flooded forest around these conservation lakes which will help to improve the fish habitat, increase biodiversity and protect water birds in Community Fisheries areas. The project also provides education to communities to appreciate and protect environmental resources which could lead to a decrease or end of illegal fishing. In addition to that the project will empower women in participation and leadership in group management through organizing them into 7 groups (7-10 women each) to participate in protection and conservation of natural resources and actively take part in other community activities. Moreover, project also working closely with those women groups to distribute 612 Ceramic Water Purifiers to community members and place the Ceramic Water Purifiers in various public centers.
