Project of environmental education and pilot demonstration for preservation of the coastal zone and conservation of marine species in Beira Municipality, Sofala province, along Mozambique channel
A project aiming to contribute to the efforts of mitigation of environmental problems along the coastal zone areas of Beira Municipality, namely pollution, land degradation, loss of biodiversity, and lack of environmental consciousness among villagers; the project will promote environmental awareness campaigns on the need of adequate sanitation, about sustainable use of fish resources, management of mangrove communities, establishment of boards and signs with educational messages, demonstration of soil erosion control techniques, and rehabilitation of degraded coastal sand dune forests; increase of subsistence options and that of income generation activities at community level will secure a better preservation of the environment, and sustainable use of natural resources.
