Project of community tree nurseries (sustainable use of natural resources for preservation of biodiversity) Tete province
A project aiming to contribute to rehabilitation of degraded forests, limit soil erosion, improve diet nutrition of communities, and ensure existence of forest resources to future generations; the districts of Angónia and Tsangano in north of Tete province are seriously deforested due to agriculture practices and human pressure in search of wood-fuels and building poles. Opening of new farming areas contributes to recurrence of these problems; in parallel Moatize and Cahora-Bassa districts in central Tete province due to cultural behaviors are faced with problems of illegal offtake of wild animals, bushfires, continued deforestation, soil erosion, recurrent land degradation, and loss of forest cover; the project will minimize these problems contributing to preservation of biodiversity, and mitigating land degradation.
