Project Characteristics and Results
Policy Impact
Global Warming: Biogas technology helps to lessen global environmental pollution from greenhouse gas emissions by trapping and burning METHANE, a dangerous greenhouse gas, as an energy source stopping its release into the atmosphere. The use of Bio-digester instead of wood fuel will create a healthier indoor environment for a rural household.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
Households will be able to to save money on the purchase of fuel for cooking and heating. The rollout project is 12 X digesters per community and has a value of app. ZAR 110,000-00, 26% of the initial cost for reinvestment into the community and the sales of the carbon offsets will generate some income for communities.
