Project Characteristics and Results
Notable Community Participation
Four two-day workshops were held in several different regions of Kenya including Coast, Mt. Kenya, Western, and ASAL areas (ie, Baringo, Koibatek, Laikipia) with at least 30 participants from CBOs at each workshop. Each workshop prepared a memorandum on the proposed environmental policies to be sent to the National Steering Committee of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources that is leading the process.
Policy Impact
Input from the communities in several different regions of the country on the proposed environmental policies will help ensure that the policies will be favorable to the rural poor and will be more sensitive to poverty alleviation.
