Improving environment and livelihood through conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.
The project is aiming at i) provide technical support to individual household on how to plant jatropha trees to improve their farm land and how to produce oil from jatropha seeds, ii) participatory management of sugar palm tree focusing on conservation and replanting sugar palm trees, iii) improved cook stove to sugar palm production and promote sustainable supply and use of firewood through planting fast growth tree and management of community forestry and iv) strengthening two small enterprise Faire trade Units.
1.2 Objectives:
- Develop participatory planning
- Establish and enhancing Small Enterprise Faire Trade Unit) and community representative group for supporting and ensure project sustainability.
- Improve community livelihood through growing jatropha on family free land for improving soil
- Participated in disseminate and conserved palm tree and replanting
- Added value to palm sugar through providing processing technique to women target groups
- improved cook stove to sugar palm production and promote sustainable supply and use of firewood through planting fast growth tree and management of community forestry
1.3 Outputs and activities:
- Two small enterprise Faire trade Units (SEFTU) were established and have capacity to manage their enterprise and have earn more money from suitable business with community.
- 150 families adapt new technique and can planting jatropha tree over 10 ha of land and at the 2nd years of project community can harvest 10-15 tones jatropha seeds and wast from jatropha oil processing about 7-10 tones will be use for improve soil.
- Knowledge on jatropha oil processing were adapted and applied by SEFTU group and 3,000-4,500 litters was produced and raise awareness of the advantages of jatropha oils.
- 1,000 palm tree was planted by community
- 150-200 women were train on palm sugar processing and at least applied the processing technique, about 30-35 tones of palm sugars was produced and sold to SEFTU and estimated annual income around 22,000-26,000 $.
- Men target group will gain knowledge on constructing improve cook stove and 150 improved cook stoves were constructed and 315 tones of firewood can be save from using those improve cook stoves.
- Planted 10,000-15,000 local fast growing trees around community home lots for family firewood consumptions.
- 150 families were training on book keeping and to record daily income for analysis annual family income improvement.

Capacity - Building Component
The project provides capacity building to the targeted beneficiaries such as; - Understand how to use high efficient stoves - Understand the process how to build the high efficient stove. - Understand how to plant jatropha , tree and it advantages Beneficiaries will build environment friendly attitude from participation in all activities of improved stoves building, jatrophas and trees planting.
Gender Focus
There are around 450 - 600 women beneficiaries will benefit from the project activities as below: Improved stoves ? saving times for cooking, saving fire wood, safe for their health and environment, and while using the high efficient stoves, they can do other house work at the same time. Trees planting ? They can collect wood near their house when the trees grown up. Jatropha planting ? Increased income by selling jatropha seeds, and they can use jatropha oil instead of diesel.
