Swasti IV-Augmentation of Water Resources for Rejuvenation and Reclamation of Biodegraded Yamuna Ravines by Harnessing Integral Perennial water Source to Create a Water body at Fort Pratapner Janpad Etawah
a) Goal of the project: Arrest wasteful drain off into the Yamuna river of existing perrenial water stream running below the Pratapner Fort by a brick masonary check dam to create a unique water body for rejuvination of environment and agro based income generation activity in ravine belt.

b) purpose/objectives of the project:
* Harness existing and untapped surface water source to acquire a major water resource potential in a water scarcity belt.
* Utilise this potential for arresting and reversing land degradation through restoration of soil cover and rejuvinating bio diversity.
* Harness abundant solar power in the region to maximize optimum exploitation of water reserve.
* Reclaim fallow ravine land for new agricultural and horticultural activities.
* Open water based income generation for marginalised farmers.
* Provide major reserve of potable water for the ravine belt to ward off water crisis in droughts and dry spells.
* Arrest soil erosion by restoring topsoil cover by greening and extension of grass and fodder cultivation.
* Capacity building of the communities to have stake in betterment of their environment through community ownership of resources of the water body.
* Demonstrate and establish linkage between environment and sustainable growth by income generation through restoration of eco balance.
* Women empowerment through sharing in decision making in management of water body.
* Consolidate on gains from phase one to sustain community commitment so that these benefits can be carried forward over the entire belt by replication and similar community initiatives.
* Draw attention to this vital belt embracing Jamuna wetlands, where steady environmental degradation has stripped of top soil of its once rich forests and squeezing farmer out of his cultivable lands, destroying flora and fauna and creating arid zone.
* Draw attention for need to create water bodies to restore eco balance and counter adversities of climate change.
* Prepare favourable condition for next link project entailing doctoring of terrain to provide terraced cultivation with assured water supply.
