Land up gradation and biodiversity conservation by empowerment of Migrant labour households through management of land and agricultural resources
The project has been undertaken to develop and establish successful operation of a more comprehensive set of livelihood counseling and support services especially encompassing agriculture/NRM improved practices for migration dependent households and their communities that is both sustainable and replicable in other areas with similar conditions.
Objectives of project:
a) Conserve local biodiversity and fortifying capacity of farmers and organizations to sustain agriculture/NRM improvements;
* change attitude towards agricultural/NRM through exposure to possibilities, training and enhanced ability to act on information;
* identify sets of sustainable agricultural/NRM practices that are appropriate for different categories of families of migrants in the target villages based on their indigenous knowledge, resources, abilities and preferences that can be scaled up to other villages and panchayats.
* enhance the capacities of village groups and local NGO's to plan agricultural/NRM improvements; mobilize resources required for their implementation; and successfully complete and manage those improvements on a sustainable basis..
A cross cutting objective is to make arresting the decline in the natural resource base an imperative in the minds of beneficiaries and more specifically to identify activities where there are strong convergences between income generation and enhanced NRM.

. The strategy was to demonstrate the practices which are very simple but effective and increase productivity and decrease inputs.
. It is a slow process as the benefits are marginal and with climate change and erratic rainfall it has become uncertain.The struggle is to keep the interest of the communities in agriculture and keep the productivity wth all the pressure.
